Has anyone used Ultram to detox from lortab before and how so?

using alternative narcotics like trams, sub or methadone to kick a narcotic is risky business....u r basically switching to another narcotic...be safe

I have learned the hard way that there is NO WAY to not go through a little bit of suffering.  Maybe it is our pennance for messing with our bodies the way we have.  You may as well just taper from the Lortab, and save yourself a lot of time and a lot of addictions you don't need.  There will ALWAYS be something to withdrawal from.  Don't prolong it any more.  Taper and make it as painless as possible, but go through it now.

Navydoc --- these folks are telling you the truth ---- you are on the verge of jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire ----  You really should just taper from the drug you are on ---  as soon as you jump to one of the stronger opiates you are going to have he11 coming off of it ----- you can do this man ----  you are NAVY ---- Yes, it is difficult but many on here who thought they were weak found our just how strong they really were --- it gives you such a feeling of freedom to beat this stuff --- go for it.  All the best.

Try to taper the lortab. Try cutting them in 1/2 do whatever u have to do. Just stay away from the Ultram!!! Are u able to taper how many lortabs do u have left?

sub. ruined my life so i cannot advise you to take such a strong drug, might as well get on oxcy-cotin
i have used ultram to get off tabs
then i had to turn around and use darvon to get off the trams
tram wd last a few weeks, sub wd can last up to a yr
loritab wd last 3 to 4 days
you have to make your own choice here, if you want to quit .....then you should just quit, not move onto another drug, substitution
if you want to become dependant on another drug then you should get on ultram or sub
if you want off all drugs, you should taper from the loritab

I was put on ultram to detox off of The Fentanyl patches by an addicyion specialist/psychatrist. On my first day off the fentanyl patches I was on 200mg 5 x a day , then 2nd day, 50mg 4 xa day, 3rd 50mg 3x a day...and so on. I refused suboxone b/c of the cost and its just switching to another drug that you have to detox off of. So they detoxed with ultram, WHICH DID NOTHING FOR ME! I went into full bown, cold turkey w/d's. Fentanyl itself is absoulte hell to come off of.   I would slowly taper off of the hyrocodine. You will still have w/d's, hopefully not as bad as going cold turkey! Good luck!

I am not to familier with ultrams, took them but didnt' like them...I have read enough to know they are hard to get off of...I am sure if you have an unlimited supply of hydros , this will be tough....BUT if you are in the NAVY --YOU have to be WAY tougher then these pills....
DO you think you can taper off of the hydro's??? I wish you all the best!!!

Dont Do It !  
I was taking Lortab for 5 yrs ( 3 yrs heavily) And when I'd run out I would take ultrams ( 6 at a time)   And It would give me what I neeed--- It would balance me out.  
Just like everyone else has said- It's just trading 1 addiction & getting another one.
Are u trying to quit all together?  Have you looked into other options like Sub? Or Rehab?
   I began Sub on Tuesday & you will hear  good & bad stories about the Suboxone...... But for ME it's working, I have 4 kids & a husband - who isnt all that supportive, So rehab was NOT AN OPTION for me..... Look into Sub if you think u cant quit CT.

Let's put it this way, I am stuck in the field. I have unlimited access to hydro and tram and want to end this now. I do not have any other meds usuable for detox. So, is there anyone who has done this?

I had found where a longtime user of oxy had used tramadol to detox in about one week and was hoping to find the dosage.

I would not recommend doing that. I have taken them before but not so much as to become addicted to them... I also really have a sick fondness of anything hydrocodone... However, I have read from others on this site that coming off of those is worse... Far worse.

I think it would end up being like trading one for the other... But that's just my opinion... And you know what they say about those...

ultram is highly adicting and should not be used as a detox tool its kind of like going from the frying pan into the fire . how much lortab are you taking and for how long.
