NEW YEAR; NEW CHALLENGE

We haven’t started a new challenge since the summer, so with a new year just around the corner, who’s up for   one?  I certainly am.

As some of you know, I’ve had quite a few other challenges on my plate this past year; dealing with my elderly aunt, including her fractured hip and other health issues, my thyroid levels out of whack, B12 levels fluctuating, along with other things, have all taken a toll, both mentally and physically.

Now that the Holidays are pretty much over (for me, since we usually don’t do much celebrating for New Year’s anymore), I have taken stock and set some new, achievable goals.

I’ve been doing pretty well with my eating, but really need to hit the exercise.  While my “winter neighbor” is here, and we both love to walk, we do for at least 30 minutes, most days; however, that’s obviously not enough!!

I love to do yoga, but don’t take the time;  I love the Wii Fit, but don’t take the time; I have a treadmill and love it, but don’t take the time.  Hhmmmm – what does that tell you?

My major goal is to make a very concerted effort, this year, to lose at least 20 pounds, though I’d like to lose more, if possible. In order to do that, I’m going to have to set an exercise schedule and stick with it, along with watching what I eat and making sure my thyroid levels stay stable.

Because losing 20 pounds sounds like a daunting project, I’m going to break it down into smaller goals, to make it achievable.  The first goal, will be to lose between 1 and 2 pounds per week, which is the safest rate for weight loss. The second goal, will be to get a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise daily, while actually aiming for an hour, most days.

We’re all here for the purpose of losing weight; therefore, I invite you to come along on this journey with me.  I intend to get started on Sunday, which is New Year’s Day……. and hope you will join me.

All you have to do to join, is to highlight the list of names, copy and paste it into a new post on this thread, then add your name to the list.

We will have a weekly weigh in, like we do now, which I will post each Sunday morning and everyone has a chance to post their current weight, and make whatever comments you want, regarding your week, whether you achieved your goal, or if you need some help, support, motivation.

If you have a different weigh in day, that’s fine, just post your weigh in, when you can.

Be kind to yourself and remember – we win by losing!!

Hi! I want to join, too. Maybe with the support, I can realize my goal.  You are right about the potatoes, crackers, and such. I have been eating only whole grain bread and crackers for two decades, and switched to whole grain pasta 5 years ago. As for potatoes, I only eat sweet potatoes. Still, I did not lose any weight. So, my thinking this time is to eat either none, or very, very little. Perhaps, I can get fiber with beans and flax seed.  I think my metabolism needs to rev up (i.e. I need to exercise), but with fibromyalgia, that is rough. Also, I love chocolate and will find that the hardest to give up of all. Best luck to all members of this community1  I know we can lose weight!

Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing ok and not being tempted by the last of the Christmas treats... I got a late Christmas present today, of liqueur truffle chocolates! So I'm determined to save them for as long as possible (best before date is 31 May 2013!!). Also got a chocolate Santa from a friend, and gave it to my partner (who enjoyed it very much!)... so far, so good!
