Just when you think it is safe~

Today i was put in a very bad situation.  One of my co-workers(and i use that term loosely) came to me and said "oh look what i have"...She then presents a bottle of narcotics.  Claims she has a sore throat.  My mouth instantly watered and i just backed up against a freezer.   Now mind you i am over 4 yrs clean and life goes pretty smoothly for me now but this just took me by surprise.  Once i gained my bearings i told her she needed to get that out of my face and to never do that again.  I then went and got my boss, told her what was going on and that i needed to call someone, my sponsor.  She came immediately.  We talked for about 15 minutes and i was okay.  The point i am making here is this addiction presents itself when you least expect it.  Always keep that guard up.  Know what to do when this happens which is why we speak of aftercare like we do.  Had i not had the tools i needed this situation could of been disastrous.  As for my coworker?  Let's just say she hasnt heard the last from me!!!   sara

Today went very well.  I talked with both of them and stated my concerns.  There will be ZERO narcotics brought in to the store.  I did state that if it does happen again i will walk out of that place, never to return.

Now to make some brownies!!!  lol

Tell her you want to get past this incident and offer her some ex-lax brownies....at least you wont see her for a good half day.... ;-)

I am so glad to know that you passed the test with flying colors, I knew you would.  My wife recently had surgery and guess who got to hold and dispense the pain pills for her.  I did.  Imagine that.  The fox guarding the hen house.  But fortunately God took away my desire to ever take those nasty pills again.  Was able to dispense as needed to her and they dont even temp me.  That is a miracle and only given by the Grace of God.  My best to you, guv

Sounds like your boss is handling the situation well! This coworker is probably going to be mortified! But, this will be a necessary lesson! I simply can not imagine ever doing something like that! However, I could not have ever imagined myself doing some of the things I've done!

No she didnt do this on purpose.  She isn't the brightest bulb on the tree.  I am not saying i am either, she does have some other issues.  I really do need to tread lightly with her in all aspects.  My boss said that there will no longer be meds brought to the store and if someone needs one like an antibiotic she will have a place for them to store.

I guess my question would be did this coworker do this on purpose? Does she know your story? Either way it wasn't appropriate at all, but I just wonder why someone would purposely do this! I know you will handle it in your own special way! Just glad I'm not her!
