Methadone detox

Hi, I am new here. I am at the hospital detoxing from methadone, soma and Dilaudid  because I am sick of being out of it. I have two ruptured discs.  Does any one have any suggestions to help me? I am day one.

I'm sorry but I have no personal experience with subs.  I take it from your posts that you were addicted to soma, dilaudid and methadone?  Is that why the Dr. wants you to start the subs?  Either way, whether you begin the subs or not, you're going to have to experience some kind of withdrawal and how long it will go on for is different for everyone.

Typically the physical stuff lasts around 5 to 7 days (I wasn't so typical as mine went on for about 2 weeks).  And that's when the mental side of withdrawal really kicks in but the symptoms can be managed by a lot of different home remedies.  What is your intent here?  To give up all the drugs?  If that's the case, it is possible to quit cold turkey - YES you will be uncomfortable for a while, but it will pass.  Kind of like a really bad flu.  And as I said, then you can manage those symptoms with various things - supplements, vitamins, and most importantly, some form of aftercare (i.e therapy, NA/AA, addictionologists, etc.)

And there are a lot of members here who have experience with the sub route, and I'm sure they can offer more insight into that process.  It tends to get pretty quiet here on the weekends though but keep checking in I'm sure someone with that experience will respond to you.

Thank you for your prayers. It very much helps. I was in the middle of having a major pity party:(I'm not going to worry about sleeping. It was impossible last night. I'm going in between sweats and chills. Did the tub/Epsom. I may do it again. I'm glad that your spouse had you. My spouse is judgmental and I had to look for help outside. Thnx 4 encouragement.-ingrid

Sorry Typiing on my phone I didn't type 8mg of xanax. Don't worry about the sleep right now. Just try to listen to music watch tv try to move around if you can. Also you can put valerian root in the sleepy time tea . Eat bananas that also helps with the rls. Post as many times as you have to for encouragement and support someone is usually always around lots of different time zones and ppl to represent them. Try to be strong .think I can and will beat this demon out of me and this monkey off my back. We are here to help you along the way.

Hi inga
I know you are feeling really awful now. My husband went ct 14 months ago at 20mg of methadone and 8mg a day .it was very tough but he was finally sick and tired of being chained to the meth bottle and pills. Look at the health pages on the right side of the page. Keep yourself hydrated.get immodium.take hot epsom salt baths.vitamins and protein shakes. So proud of you to want to be clean. Life is so much clearer with all the poisons and toxins in your body. Many times much of your pain is actually in your head. Many ppl on this site are able to handle their pain with otc meds exercise acupunture . My husband also went into the hospital for 5 days and he was given the subs for just a few days. Don't plan on staying on them too long they are also really hell to get off. I will pray for the LORD to break the chains of bondage and addiction in your life.
Blessings to you
Debbie

And just to let you know those first few days I was taking up to FOUR showers a night just to get that temporary relief from the anxiety and they helped me SO much.  :) p.s epsom salts are good right about now if you have them handy (use as a scrub if in the shower).  The salts will draw out the toxins from your body (something to do with the magnesium).  And please remember to stay hydrated - I remember water was tough for me to keep down, so orange or apple juice, gatorade or just plain tea is good.

You will get through this night.  Even if you don't sleep, stay in bed, drink fluids and distract yourself with a movie or just some TV.

Do you mean you're not taking anything now or that you are on the subs?  Either way, try to just take it slow for the evening, keep yourself as comfortable as possible.  A heating pad helps with that restless feeling, along with a really HOT shower before settling in.  Some melatonin can help with sleep issues so you might want to think about picking some up (pretty cheap found at most drugstores).  And a cup of tea can be soothing as well (some sleepytime is good).

But most importantly, don't put any expectations upon yourself for tonight or for the next few days.  Resisting all of the symptoms of withdrawal only made it worse for me.  But definitely do the hot shower you would be surprised how much that can relax you - or a bath if you prefer, I'm just not really a bath person.  And hang in there - I'm sure gnarly will be here soon and stay on the website as talking all of this out helps a lot.  And I'm happy to share some of the things I did as you begin to experience different symptoms so feel free to message me if you'd like.  I'll be rooting for you!!!  You CAN do this - I know it seems impossible right now, but you'll get through this.  Hang onto some blind faith for now.  Better minutes/hours/days will come I promise you that.  :)

They put me on subs in the hospital so now I am in full fledge withdrawals. I don't think I'm going to go on another drug just to go through this crap again. I feel like I have flu x10.if I can get through this night I will be happy and impressed with myself.
